What is counselling and why is it important?

Counselling, or ‘therapy’ as it is commonly known, falls under the umbrella term ‘talking therapies’ and allows people to discuss their problems and any difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment. The term can mean different things to different people, but in general, it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives, deal with current or past concerns or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.

A counsellor, or therapist, is not there to sit you down and tell you what to do. Instead, they will encourage you to talk about what’s bothering you in order to uncover any root causes and identify your specific ways of thinking. They may then look to create a plan of action to either help you reconcile your issues, or help you to find ways of coping.

Adults Counselling at Inner Solutions: Can take place: face to face; in a group; over the phone; or online through live video chat services. Inner Solutions Counselling provides a safe, supportive, understanding and confidential environment in which you can knowing that no judgements are made. You will feel supported and listened to and be able to express how you’re really feeling.

 You will be offered a Initial therapy appointment, where we will meet and explore your concerns. At the first appointment you will be able to meet with myself and make sure that I am the ideal therapist for you. The amount of session’s you will need are dependant of your individual needs.

Each appointment will last 50-60 mins, this is to ensure that we have enough time to work together without feeling pressured by a strict cut off time.
